South Africa's Covid Storm

SOUTH AFRICA’S

COVID STORM

27 mins // BBC Africa Documentary Series

As the world tried to figure out how to handle Covid-19, South Africa took on a strict approach - restricting people’s movement, implementing stringent curfews and prohibiting the sale of cigarettes and alcohol.

Throughout it all, front line workers were tasked with navigating the stark inequalities of South Africa, testing those in some of the richest neighbourhoods on the continent and also people living in dense townships, where social distancing is impossible.

This film follows Tshego, a nurse and mother who fights not only a virus, but stigma, poverty and corruption.
